Ulterior

Collaboration with Andrew Hiles

Ulterior – for a narrative photography project, we decided that rather than go for the orthodox methods of creating a story from start to end, we would create a story in which each photograph would jump in and out of the story at certain points.

Myself and Andrew Hiles, chose to split up and take one day in which we would take photos fitted around the theme – in this case the word ‘Ulterior’ and piece together our different photos together to make one underlying story.

The word ‘Ulterior’ means something hidden behind what is evident and so for our narrative we decided on the idea that someone was in a dark place searching for a way out – in this case the light/saviour

Black and White photography was the order of the day as we felt using colour distracted from the idea of dark/light.
